This Weekend In Lahore: One for Acquired Skills
Let’s take a collective moment to appreciate just how kind the weather has been this entire week. Kind of sets the tone for the weekend too, with the sky looking this pretty you definitely don’t want to be cooped up in bed. Flavor of the week is self improvement, I’ve been looking around for classes that I could sign up for. Mostly because I have been reprimanded for spending far too much time binging on Netflix (shout out to my Mom, love you Mom). So this weekend in Lahore, we’ve got a whole bunch of classes/sessions/talks lined up for you. Grab your umbrella and check these out:
SPINNING A YARN
The kids, how could we ever forget the kids. British Council Pakistan is hosting a three day writing workshop for budding novelists. If you think your child’s got a best-seller brewing in their head, do them a solid and get them registered. Led by Mina Malik, this workshop aims to unpack the elements of story-telling, and familiarize aspiring storytellers with them.
P.S. Tomorrow is the last day to register, get to it!
LAHORE, I LOVE YOU
Faiz Ghar, 5th August 2018, 5:00 PM
The Little Art is hosting a photography workshop and photo walk for young photographers. The workshop will facilitate a dialogue on the aesthetics of photography, using photography to tell stories of culture and heritage and celebrating Lahore. The change in weather this weekend in Lahore means that you can do so, without breaking much of a sweat.
P.S. 4 sessions, 20 seats per session. Do not miss out.
AN EVENING WITH SANAM MAHER
The Last Word is hosting Sanam Maher, author of “The Sensational Life and Death of Qandeel Baloch”, an explosive investigation into the life, journey and brutal murder of Pakistan’s most controversial celebrity. Maher captures a nations fascination, hypocrisy and hatred towards a woman blazing her own path in modern Pakistan. Definitely worth checking out.
P.S. Book a spot for yourself soon.
SOAP MAKING WORKSHOP
Soap Series is a series of workshops being hosted at the Daftarkhwan headquarters. The workshops provide a hands on experience for those who want to learn how to make their very own natural shampoos, hand washes, face washes, etc. If you’re as obsessed with soaps as I am (and boy am I) you can’t miss this one. Necessary life skill guys!
P.S. I say go wild with soap experimentation
I’ve been obsessed with pottery ever since I sneakily watched Ghost as an eleven year old. Ladies, you know what I’m talking about. Now I’m not saying I want to make a living (a killing) as a professional potter, however, I’m all about adding on the life skills. Robotics Club Pakistan is hosting a pottery workshop this weekend in Lahore, sign up dear friends.
P.S. Book a spot STAT.
Another weekend, another list of aspirations to tackle. If you sign up for any of these events you’ll walk away much richer in knowledge and experience. That’s your typical C+G weekend in Lahore right there.
