This Weekend in Lahore: Marching into March
We’ve got The Aurat March happening this weekend in Lahore, and that really sets the tone for the rest of the weekend as well. Other than the initiative, there are movie screenings, musical performances and book readings; all featuring women worth admiring. Here are our top picks for this weekend in Lahore:
It’s that time of the year when we raise our wrists and take to the streets! On this International Women’s Day 8th March 2019, the Hum Aurtein Initiative will be marching from Lahore Press Club to Charing Cross and then to Alhamra Arts Council, before congregating at Burney Ground for a few speeches and performances. See you all there.
P.S. Hope you’ve got your posters sorted. The wittier, the better.
Picture Ghar is a film and speaker series organized by the students of Cinema Studies, in collaboration with the Gurmani Centre for Languages and Literature to engage critically with Pakistani Cinemas. The first screening will be held at LUMS and will be of Aurat Raj (1979, dir. Rangeela), in anticipation of the upcoming Aurat March.
P.S. What a great way to kick of Aurat March!
